Mogadishu Mayor Calls for Urgent Action on Security Coordination

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Mogadishu Mayor and Banadir Governor Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein has urged security agencies to step up coordination and move swiftly to implement reinforced measures aimed at stabilizing the Somali capital.
Chairing a high-level meeting at City Hall, Mayor Hussein emphasized the need for unified and proactive efforts to counter security threats, noting that the safety of Mogadishu’s residents depends on the effectiveness of joint operations.
“Our city’s future relies on how fast and how well we act together,” the Mayor said. “We must close ranks, eliminate gaps, and deliver real security progress.”
The meeting included top officials from the Banadir Police Command, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), the Military Police, and Deputy Governor for Security and Politics, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh). Senior officers briefed the Mayor on ongoing operations and proposed next steps.
Hussein praised the resilience and commitment of frontline forces but stressed that maintaining peace in Mogadishu requires constant vigilance and sharper execution.
The meeting comes as Mogadishu faces sporadic security challenges despite recent gains in counterterrorism efforts.
