GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), on Monday officially inaugurated the newly reconstructed Soobe Road, a major artery in the capital.

The road, which connects the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters to the busy 14th October junction—widely known as Soobe—has undergone extensive rehabilitation. It is one of the city’s key strategic routes, easing traffic flow in one of Mogadishu’s busiest areas.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Mayor Muungaab said the project reflects the municipality’s commitment to restoring essential services for residents through transparent governance and accountable use of public resources.

“This road has been rebuilt under a modern plan that ensures stormwater drains flow directly to the sea, while underground passages have been prepared for power cables and water pipes. This shows our priority to deliver quality and sustainable infrastructure,” the mayor said.

He emphasized that the Banadir Regional Administration would continue rolling out similar initiatives across Mogadishu to improve public services and support economic growth.

The inauguration of Soobe Road comes as part of broader municipal efforts to rehabilitate the capital’s infrastructure, which has suffered decades of neglect due to conflict.
