GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab, has called on parents to enrol their children in public schools across the capital, saying the city administration is taking steps to improve access to education.

Speaking on the state of education in the city, Muungaab said the Banaadir Regional Administration is investing more resources to strengthen public schools and ensure that more children can benefit from affordable education.

He also noted that the city’s Directorate of Education has simplified the process of obtaining primary school completion certificates, a move aimed at removing bureaucratic barriers that previously made it difficult for some students to access the documents.

“I recently approved nearly $300,000 to support the development of schools in Banaadir Region each academic year, and this funding will be increased, alongside plans to construct large new schools in the near future,” the mayor said.

Muungaab added that the planned investments will help improve infrastructure, expand learning facilities, and enhance the quality of education offered in public institutions across the region.

The mayor emphasized that strengthening public education is a key priority for the Banaadir administration as the city seeks to expand opportunities for children and ensure wider access to schooling.
