GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Banadir Regional Police Commissioner Mahdi Omar Muumin has announced a $30,000 reward for credible information leading to the identification or arrest of those responsible for recent mortar attacks in the capital, Mogadishu.

Addressing reporters, Commissioner Muumin urged the city’s residents to work closely with security forces in preventing future attacks, many of which are attributed to the militant group al-Shabaab.

“I encourage the people of Mogadishu to work closely with the security services. Anyone who provides information that helps identify or capture those behind these deadly mortar attacks will receive a reward of thirty thousand dollars,” Commissioner Muumin said.

The announcement follows a string of mortar attacks targeting key locations, including the Presidential Palace and the Halane compound, an area that hosts diplomatic missions and international organizations under high security.

The reward is part of a broader effort by Somali authorities to boost community cooperation in counterterrorism operations, particularly as al-Shabaab continues to use indirect fire tactics to strike civilian and government targets.
