Mogadishu Port Road Works to Strengthen Logistics, Minister Says
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Ports and Marine Transport minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur has said that new internal roads being built inside Mogadishu Port will play a crucial role in improving efficiency and supporting the port’s rapid growth.
Speaking at a foundation-laying ceremony for the project, Nur said the upgrades are part of the government’s wider plan to modernize the capital’s port and position it as a competitive maritime hub in the region.
He said the new road network will ease congestion, strengthen logistics, and “ensure the port keeps pace with rising demand” as operations expand. Mogadishu Port has recently been recognized as one of Africa’s most improved and best-serviced ports, a development Nur said has accelerated the need for round-the-clock operations and further investment.
Senior port officials, including Mogadishu Port Authority General Manager Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur, attended the ceremony.
