More Than 33 Al-Shabaab Fighters Killed In Middle Shabelle Operations- NISA

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MIDDLE SHABELLE: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said Tuesday that more than 33 suspected Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in a series of planned operations in the Guulane area of Middle Shabelle region.
According to a statement issued by NISA, the operations were carried out with the support of unnamed international partners and targeted locations allegedly being used by the militant group for shelter, coordination and planning attacks.
NISA said the first strike hit a house where senior figures and fighters were gathered, killing 15 people and destroying the site.
The agency added that follow-up operations targeted other militants hiding in the same area, killing more than 18 additional fighters and destroying a vehicle reportedly being used for transport and movement.
Officials said the operations followed intelligence reports indicating that around 90 militants had been assembled in Guulane for activities threatening security.
