MP Abdi Hosh Jibril: The appointment of electoral commission is against the constitution

Somali Federal MP Abdi Hosh Jibril says that the recent appointment of federal level electoral commission by Somali president is illegal and unacceptable.

The MP, in an interview with Goobjoog news said, that the appointment of commission could ruin this year’s general election prospective. “In my opinion the way that commission was appointed was against the provisions of the constitution. Therefore, the prospect of holding fair and inclusive election proves to be difficult” said the MP

The MP accused Somali President Hassan sheikh Mahamdoud of appointing ministers and his friends to lead the elections commission “elections need neutral commission but this in commission friends and figures of president’s party constitute the majority” said the MP

The MP called a complete review of this year’s general elections procedures.
