MP Jeesow : Security Lapses Is Due To Soldiers Salary Overdue
Parliamentary committee of Internal Affairs, Regional Administration and Security has talked about the security amid Somalia’s capital city, Mogadishu rocked explosions since Ramadan season started.
The deputy chairman of the committee, Dahir Amin Jeesow who gave exclusive interview to Goobjoog News said that the main factor influencing the insecurity is the salary overdue and poor salary payment of the soldiers who could have maintain the security of the town.
He added that a soldier cannot do two things at a time, struggling family consumption and tightening the security of the country.
“It is important for the forces assigned to maintain the security have to get reassurance so that they keep vigilance, one of the things dragging the security back is the salary overdue” he said.
This comes less than 72 hours after Suspected Al-Shabab fighters entered the Siyad hotel, which is located opposite the presidential palace, as well as the Weheliye hotel on Makka Almukkaramah Road, as hotel residents were starting to break the Ramadan fast.
Somalia’s Special Forces intervened shortly after the assault began, engaging in a firefight with the gunmen.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attacks.
“So far we understand they killed four people inside the hotel,” Nur Ali said.
