MP Omar Ali Isaaq Elected to the Constitutional Review and Implementation Oversight Committee

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Member of Parliament Omar Ali Isaaq has been elected to the Constitutional Review and Implementation Oversight Committee following a vote held by members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

Omar Ali Isaaq defeated MP Luul Ibrahim Isaaq in the election. Speaker of the House, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Adan Madobe), announced the results and congratulated the winning candidate for joining one of Parliament’s most significant committees.

The Oversight Committee works closely with the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission to guide, monitor, and harmonize the ongoing constitutional review process. The two bodies collaborate to ensure that the final draft reflects national consensus and aligns with Somalia’s governance needs.

This election is part of broader efforts to accelerate the completion and adoption of a permanent constitution for Somalia—an undertaking that has been under review and national consultation for many years.
