Mudug administration blames lack of cooperation between Puntland and Galmudug states for gaps in region’s security
The administration of Mudug region under Galmudug state has blamed lack of cooperation and communication between Puntland and Galmudug states for the gaps being witnessed in the fight against insecurity.
Mudug Deputy governor, Abdi Hussein noted that attacks and killings exposed a number of operational gaps in the ability of security services to respond effectively to the insecurity incidents.
Hussein said some of these operational gaps included a glaring lack of proper liaison amongst the various security services which compromised efficiency in the sharing of crucial information.
“To mitigate this situation, Joint Operation Centres were established with a multiagency representation for the improvement of information-sharing and coordination amongst the various actors in the security sector,” said Hussein said.
Meanwhile, Puntland blamed Galmudug for orchestrating the ongoing assassinations and bomb attacks in the northern part of Galkayo, a claim that the rival other side denies.
Galkayo is divided into two zones, where the northern portion forms part of Puntland state, while its southern part is governed by the Galmudug State.
