Mursal opens the lead as four proceed to second round

Immediate former defence Mohamed Mursal opened a narrow lead in round one of elections at the Lower House closely followed by posts and telecommunications minister Ibrahim Isaaq.

Mursal garnered 84 votes while Isaaq got 70 to proceed to the second round together with Abdi Aziz Hasaan (Lafta Green) and Sharif Mohamed.

The rest of the candidates got the following votes:

Idris Abdi- 3

Iiman Abdullahi- 3

Mohamud Maalim -7

Salim Aliyow-7

Ali Sheikh -16

Dr. Shariff Shakhuna- 6

Former speaker Aaden Madobe opted out of the race before the polls opened

Second round voting is now underway.
