Nairobi Hosts Somalia-Kenya Training on Border Control and ID Systems

GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Somalia and Kenya have begun a five-day training programme in Nairobi aimed at improving identity verification systems and regulating the legal movement of people across borders.
The workshop, opened by Abdiweli Tima’ade, Director General of Somalia’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), brings together officials from Somalia’s immigration department, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Kenya’s Immigration Directorate, and regional partners.
Also attending are Evelyne Cheluguet of Kenya’s Immigration Directorate, Mustafa Sheikh from Somalia’s Immigration Directorate, and Muhyaddin Osman from Somalia’s CID.
Backed by the Government of Norway, the initiative is designed to bolster cross-border cooperation, strengthen identity systems, and enhance the use of modern technology to counter transnational crime and improve regional security.
