National Judges Forum Kicks Off in Mogadishu
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The 6th National Judges Forum opened Wednesday in Mogadishu, bringing together stakeholders to deliberate on the achievements and challenges facing Somalia’s judicial system.
The event organizers said the event, which brings together officials from the Judiciary, Executive, and Law Enforcement serves as platform for “assessing progress, exchanging ideas, and charting a course for the future of the judiciary in the country.”
They added that the event also underscores the importance of collaboration and coordination among government institutions in advancing judicial reforms and upholding the rule of law.
During the forum, participants engaged in discussions on various aspects of Somalia’s judicial landscape, including efforts to enhance access to justice, strengthen the independence and integrity of the judiciary, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of legal processes.
Legal Reforms
Representatives from the Judiciary who addressed the forum highlighted the significant strides made in recent years to modernize and reform the judicial system, including the implementation of legal reforms aimed at promoting transparency and accountability.
However, they noted that challenges still exist within the system, including; resource constraints, capacity-building needs, and security concerns in certain regions.
Participants emphasized the importance of addressing these challenges through targeted interventions and strategic partnerships with international organizations and donor agencies.
The forum provides an opportunity for stakeholders to share best practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to address common challenges and advance the rule of law agenda in Somalia.
It also serves as a platform for fostering dialogue and consensus-building among key actors in the justice sector.
