GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s National Security Adviser to the President Hussein Macallin Tuesday hosted Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, at his office.

During the meeting, the two discussed the federal government’s strategic national security priorities and the vital multifaceted support of Turkey to Somalia.

The crucial talks come as Turkey and Somalia continue forging closer ties in security and development sectors, which has seen the deployment of Turkish naval assets to the port of Mogadishu and implementation of other development projects such as construction of schools, hospitals, infrastructure and scholarships to Somali students.

The projects are being implemented under a defense and economic partnership between the two countries which has seen Turkey train Somali security forces and assist in the safeguarding of Somalia’s sovereignty, playing a key role in enhancing regional peace and security.

Turkey is among countries which faulted the Ethiopia – Somaliland naval agreement terming it as a gross violation to Somalia’s territorial integrity.

Turkey also called on Ethiopia to reverse the deal and respect international laws.
