Nearly 130 Families Receive Drought Relief in Eastern Mudug
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Nearly 130 families in Afbarwaaqo, Qoriweyn and surrounding villages in eastern Mudug have received emergency assistance as drought conditions continue to strain livelihoods in the region.
The aid, including food supplies, drinking water and livestock, was donated by Mogadishu-based businessman Khadar Nuur Mohamed and distributed to communities facing acute shortages after prolonged dry spells.
Local officials in Afbarwaaqo, together with traditional elders, said the support arrived at a critical time when many households are struggling to secure basic necessities and protect their remaining livestock.
They urged other business leaders and charitable organisations to step up assistance to vulnerable families still affected by drought across eastern Mudug, warning that humanitarian needs remain high as the dry season persists.
