New parliament convenes today in Mogadishu
GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Newly elected members of the Somali Federal parliament are today scheduled to hold their first meeting in the Somali capital Mogadishu after being officially sworn in on April 14.
Today’s meeting will take place at Villa Hargeisa, and will be chaired by the Interim Speakers who on Thursday informed members of both houses of parliament to attend the meeting to discuss the process of electing the House Speakers.
The meeting will discuss upcoming activities and the rules to be observed on the election of governors and the president.
Lower House Interim Speaker Abdisalam Haji Ahmed “Dhaban-cad” called on all lawmakers to avail themselves to the meeting without failure until the speaker and his deputies are elected.
Dhaban-cad also urged HirShabelle and Jubaland administrations to complete the election of the remaining parliamentarians so as to usher in presidential polls as soon as possible.
