Nigeria’s intelligence chief arrives in Somalia
Director-General of National Intelligence Agency of Nigeria, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar arrived in Mogadishu late yesterday.
Abukar arrived in the country on Tuesday for two days visit in Somalia where he held talks with his Somali counterpart and discussed key areas of mutual cooperation.
The directors of Somalia National Intelligence and Security Agency and the Nigerian Intelligence Agency later signed a cooperation agreement between the two agencies in various related fields.
Somalia and Nigeria deal with similar security challenges resulted from terror groups such as al-Shabaab and Boko Haram respectively.
Their cooperation in the sector of security will be the first step forward in limiting insurgency tactics deployed by extremist groups.
The Nigerian National Police are also part of the Africa Union peacekeeping unit that trains the Somali police force.
In a recent couple of weeks, security intelligence delegations from Djibouti, Qatar, Ethiopia and Sudan have arrived in Mogadishu exchanging security experiences with countries in the fight against terrorism.
