NISA Arrests Two Terror Suspects in Mogadishu, Recover Hand Grenades
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has said its officers have arrested two terror suspects who were planning attacks against members of the public in Mogadishu.
In a press release, NISA said the two, suspected to be members of the Al-Shabaab militant group were carrying hand grenades at the time of their arrest and that security officials are carrying out interrogations to establish their intentions.
“During the arrest of the two conspirators by the army, they carried explosives in their hands with the intention of harming the public,” the statement said.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency further said security officials have intensified operations within the capital city so as to deter any attacks by the militant group especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
“The security agencies of Somalia are vigilant every hour to ensure the security of the city with the full cooperation of the Somali citizens,” the statement adds.
The Somali government and International security partners have recently intensified operations against Al-Shabab fighters in the country leading to the defection of key fighters in the group.
