NISA Carries Out Planned Operation Against Al-Shabaab in Middle Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), backed by international partners, has carried out a planned operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Fiidow area of Middle Shabelle region.

NISA said the operation targeted a house where members of the militant group were believed to be hiding, adding that several Al-Shabaab members were killed in the operation.

The agency did not immediately provide details on the number or identities of those killed, nor did it disclose which international partners supported the operation.

The operation in Middle Shabelle comes as Somali security forces continue military and intelligence operations against Al-Shabaab, particularly in central and southern parts of the country.

Middle Shabelle has remained an important area in Somalia’s fight against the militant group because of its proximity to the capital, Mogadishu, and its strategic position along routes connecting central Somalia with other parts of the country.

NISA frequently conducts intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting Al-Shabaab networks, including targeting members believed to be involved in planning attacks and maintaining the group’s operational capabilities.

The agency said further details on the Fiidow operation would be released later.
