NISA Forces Kill Al-Shabaab Bomb-Maker in Lower Shabelle Raid

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali intelligence officers said on Tuesday that elite Gaashaan Special Forces carried out an overnight operation in Lower Shabelle, killing a senior Al-Shabaab commander accused of orchestrating bombings and insecurity across the region.

The raid targeted Hassan Siidoow Hussein, described as the militant group’s lead coordinator of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted along key roads, where attacks have caused repeated civilian casualties and disrupted transport.

Gaashaan forces, operating under the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), tracked Hassan through extended surveillance before eliminating him and three armed escorts in the Cumar Beere area, officials said.

NISA said the operation is part of an intensified campaign to dismantle remaining Al-Shabaab cells in southern Somalia.

The agency urged the public to report suspected militant activity through its hotlines: 199, 0770747474, and 0620545454.
