NISA Kills Senior Al-Shabaab Commander in Lower Shabelle Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), working alongside international partners, has killed a senior Al-Shabaab commander in a targeted security operation in the Lower Shabelle region.

The operation was carried out in the Hantiwadaag area under Awdheegle district, an area that has witnessed ongoing counter-insurgency activities in recent months.

NISA said the commander had been under surveillance for an extended period before the strike was executed. The agency did not immediately disclose the identity of the militant or further operational details.

NISA described the operation as part of continued efforts to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s leadership structure and disrupt the group’s operational networks in southern Somalia.

Authorities said additional information would be released as it becomes available.
