NISA Reports Strike on Al-Shabaab Training and Bomb-Making Sites
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has said it carried out a coordinated operation with international security partners in the Middle Jubba region, dismantling what it described as a major Al-Shabaab logistical and operational centre.
In a statement, NISA said the operation targeted the village of Arabow, near the militant group’s stronghold of Bu’aale, and destroyed facilities used to plan and support attacks.
According to the agency, the strike eliminated the group’s local political and administrative offices, an improvised explosive device (IED) assembly site and offices linked to Al-Kataib, Al-Shabaab’s media wing.
NISA said a training camp and a residential compound used by senior instructors were also destroyed. Eight Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the operation, it added.
The agency said the action had significantly weakened the group’s ability to recruit, train and coordinate fighters in Middle Jubba, a region long used by the militants as a base for operations.
NISA urged the public to remain vigilant and report security-related information linked to Al-Shabaab or Islamic State to its hotlines, as Somali forces continue efforts to disrupt militant networks across the country.
