NISA Says 14 Al-Shabaab Leaders Killed In Joint Operations
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency said it has killed 14 senior members of Al-Shabaab in coordinated operations over the past 10 months, carried out with support from international partners.
In a statement, NISA said those killed included Ismail Engineer, described as the group’s head of explosives, along with Nunule, accused of coordinating attacks on government forces in central Somalia.
Others named were Tuutax, linked to explosives procurement, and Mohamed Sahal Abu Usama and Abdullahi Wadaad.
The agency said the operations were part of a sustained campaign to dismantle the militant group’s leadership and disrupt its ability to plan and execute attacks.
NISA added that increased intelligence-sharing and coordinated security efforts were placing growing pressure on Al-Shabaab’s command structure, with further operations expected to improve security in affected regions.
