NISA Says Strikes Kill Al-Shabaab Bomb Experts in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has said it has killed several Al-Shabaab militants, including senior bomb-making operatives, during coordinated operations in the Lower Shabelle region.

NISA said in Kuunyo Barrow its forces destroyed six vehicles laden with explosives and killed six militants, among them two senior figures identified as Horjooge Abiikar Nuur, who oversaw vehicle-borne explosive operations, and explosives specialist Abdifatah Mahamed Hasan.

In a separate operation in Tugaarey, also in Lower Shabelle, security forces said they intercepted militants attempting to plant roadside bombs, killing three fighters and seizing a vehicle used in the operation.

The intelligence agency said the operations were aimed at disrupting al Shabaab’s improvised explosive device (IED) capabilities, which have been a major source of attacks in Somalia.

NISA urged members of the public to report suspected militant activity through designated hotlines as security operations continue across the region.
