NISA Suspends 20 WhatsApp Groups used Al-Shabaab Militants

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has said it has suspended 20 WatsApp accounts and deactivated at least 2500 mobile numbers as part of its counter-terrorism measures targeting the Al-Shabaab militant group.
The agency said the platforms are believed to have been used by the terror group to spread propaganda, harass the public, and extort money from people.
The Federal Government of Somalia and National Security Foerces have instituted several measures to tackle the group and has advised media organizations in the country not to publish propaganda as a way of stopping misinformation from the militant group.
