NISA Targets Senior Militants in Middle Shabelle Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said it carried out a special operation against senior militant leaders in the Middle Shabelle region, dealing a major blow to the group’s leadership.

In a statement, NISA said the operation took place in the village of Maha-Said, where senior militants were meeting to plan attacks against civilians and government targets.

The agency said the strike was carried out while the meeting was underway and successfully disrupted the group’s command and coordination structures. It did not immediately release details on casualties.

The operation is part of ongoing, intelligence-led efforts by Somali security agencies to dismantle militant networks, prevent planned attacks and improve security, particularly in central regions of the country.

Somalia has intensified operations against insurgent groups in recent months, with authorities saying the campaign aims to restore stability and protect civilians as the country rebuilds its security institutions.
