Storyline:National News

GOOBJOOG NEWS?MOGADISHU: Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs including the Minister were this morning locked out of their offices by the Auditor General Mohamed Ali following an ongoing probe over an alleged corruption over funds meant for the Haj pilgrimage.

Officers from the AG’s office pinned notices at the Minister’s office and that of the Director, Hajj department and the Finance Departments. The notice directed the affected officers not to access the office since there were active investigations over the alleged scandal.

The development comes amid a tussle among the ministry officials over the alleged scandal. The Ministry recently closed down some companies for alleged misappropriation of funds meant for Hajj activities.

There have been long-running accusations over the management of funds allocated by the government and those contributed by pilgrims.
