NOT OVER YET: Mudey ‘sends’ Buuh home over ‘involvement in politics’
Mudey fires another salvo in what is likely to stir up a round of political fights
The political storm in Villa Hargeisa (which houses the leadership of the Lower House) appears not to be far from over. First deputy speaker Ibrahim Mudey has ‘suspended’ the House Secretary General Abdikarim Buuh over what he termed as impartiality in the ongoing political disputes.
Mudey who has indicated he is the acting Speaker has directed Buuh to temporarily step down and allow his deputy Mohamed Abdi to assume his position in acting capacity.
“Having realized he is involved in politics and violated the law on the working of public servants and having established he is involved in this conflict,” Mudey wrote, “I inform Buuh that he is temporarily stopped from working as from today.”
Mudey accused Buuh of violating the House Standing Orders in what could herald another tug of war barely three days after the political temperatures in the country simmered following President Mohamed Farmaajo’s intervention to suspend House siting Saturday.
According to the House Standing Orders, the Secretary General is nominated by the Speaker and approved by the House Business Committee.

Mudey has been at loggerheads with his boss Mohamed Jawari who has been subject of a month long political standoff as MPs allied with Prime Minister Hassan Khaire sought to dethrone him.
Both Jawari and Mudey had vowed by late last week to convene parliament Saturday each with own agenda. Mudey has strongly maintained the vote against Jawari must proceed despite having earlier dismissed it.
Buuh Sunday fought back allegations Jawari had resigned terming them ‘mere falsehoods’.
