NUSOJ Condemns Arbitrary Arrest of two Broadcast Journalists
The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) condemns the arbitrary arrest against two broadcast journalists in Mogadishu and Berbera on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, the latest in a string of violence against the journalists in Somalia.
Nusoj called upon the federal government to release Journalist Abdifatah Hassan who was detained on Tuesday by the security forces.
The group added that it enters fourth day since Kalga’al was arrested and the security forces did not say the reason behind the arrested of the journalist.
Kalga’al who was Radio Goobjoog parliament reporter is the only blind reporter working with the media in accordance with the ethics of journalism
On the other hand the police in Berbera district of the breakaway Somaliland has arrested Mohamed Saiid Ahmed, a journalist working with Kalsan channel on 1st july 2015.
Therefore Nusoj calls for his unconditional release and respect for the freedom of expression and the media freedoms.
