One dead in heavy clan clashes near Jowhar
Heaving fighting between two clans broke out in Maandheere locality 15 KM South East of Jowhar district, the headquarters of Middle Shabelle region.
The two clans reportedly clashed on Monday following an argument about ownership of farmland in the area.
The clash has left one person, a woman dead and six others wounded during the fierce fighting between the two clans.
It is the first time such heavy clash to occur in Maandhere locality though similar clashes on land dispute that has claimed the lives of many people took place in middle Shabelle region.
November last year a similar clash between two clans in Gedo Barkan area near Jowhar has left at least 18 people dead and 20 others wounded, the fighting occurred a time when president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud visited Jowhar district to assess the damages of river Shabelle flood.
