Storyline:National News

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The opposition groups, under the umbrella of the Salvation Forum, have formally declared that they will not accept the outcome of the local council elections scheduled to take place tomorrow in Mogadishu.

In a statement, the opposition cited serious concerns over the transparency and credibility of the electoral process, warning that they are boycotting and rejecting any results that emerge from the ballot boxes. They argue that the conditions necessary for a fair and credible vote have not been met.

The declaration comes as Mogadishu enters a new and sensitive political and security phase, with the capital on edge ahead of the polls. The local council elections are seen as a critical moment for the city’s governance and political direction.

Meanwhile, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged residents of Mogadishu to participate in large numbers, calling on citizens to exercise their democratic right and take part in shaping the leadership of their local councils.

The sharply contrasting positions between the government and the opposition underline the deep political divisions surrounding the elections, raising questions about their acceptance and aftermath.
