Opposition Politicians Hold Talks with Foreign Diplomats in Ongoing Consultations

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Opposition politicians have today held talks with representatives of the international community as part of ongoing deliberations on the country’s political process.

The leaders who included a former president and former prime ministers, among other senior politicians, met with diplomats from the US and EU, among other foreign representatives.

This followed weeklong consultations among the opposition leaders, who have accused the federal government of various missteps, particularly the buildup up to the 2026 presidential elections.

The opposition leaders underlined the importance of finding an inclusive political process to avoid political chaos and legal confusion.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has convened a national consultative forum bringing together opposition leaders, civil society and government representatives.
