Outgoing UNDP boss pledges continued UN support for Somalia
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The outgoing head of the United Nations Development Program in Somalia Jocelyn Mason has promised that the organization will continue its activities in the country for the benefit of the citizens of Somalia.
Speaking in two separate farewell ceremonies held by the Information, Culture, and Tourism Ministry and the National Disaster Management department (SoDMA) in Mogadishu, Mason elaborated on the support Somalia needs from the UNDP as the Federal Government focuses on stabilizing areas recently liberated from the Al-Shabaab.
He added that he was pleased with the cooperation between the various organizations in Somalia in development projects during his term in office and added that the UNDP will continue supporting Somalia.
The National Disaster Management chairman Mr. Mohamoud Moalilim Abdulle thanked the UNDP for supporting SoDMA in capacity building, infrastructure development, and emergency response.
UNDP Deputy Ms. Sophie Kamkhadze praised the leadership of SoDMA for its role in supporting the lives of the Somali people.
Information, Culture, and Tourism Minister Mr. Daud Aweis expressed gratitude to the UNDP representative for his support for Somalia during his tenure in office.
