Over 60 Somali special forces complete VIP protection training in Serbia
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELGRADE: At least 60 Somali special forces have graduated from advanced training on VIP protection in Serbia.
The graduation which was attended by Internal Security Minister Mohamed Ahmed Sheikh and his Serbian counterpart Bratislav Gasić equips the soldiers with skills that will enhance their ability to protect key government officials including the president of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The trainees were drawn from the various departments of the Somali Security forces and will also contribute greatly to the security of the nation.
Mr. Sheikh thanked the Serbian government for playing a major role in restoring peace and stability in Somalia which has been faced with various security challenges posed by the Al-Shabaab militia group.
Serbia has also offered scholarships to various Somali students and also supports the Federal Government’s efforts in promoting peace, economic growth, technology, trade and investment, debt relief, health, education, and other key sectors.
