Over 70 cholera patients admitted to hospitals in Beledweyne
More than 70 people have been admitted to various hospitals in Beledweyne town, Hiran region suffering from cholera following at an outbreak of the disease in the region.
Beledweyne General hospital director Dr. Ahmed Khalif told Goobjoog News the hospital had received 73 patients both adults and children.
“An outbreak of cholera started in Beledweyne town and we received 73 patients. The same disease is reported in the outskirts of the town” said Dr. Khalif.
Similarly many others have been treated too in private clinics in the town according to Dr. Khalif and no death has been reported in the main hospital but the medical officer confirmed that he had received information patients in some residential areas had succumbed to the disease.
Several cases including deaths were reported in Hiraan region this year following the drought which ravaged several parts of the country.
