GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Parliament has begun reviewing the government’s 2024 financial report as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in public spending.

The joint session, chaired by Speaker of the House of the People Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madobe) at Villa Hargeisa, brought together 140 members of the lower house and 27 senators.

Finance Minister Bihi Iiman Egeh presented the report, outlining the government’s fiscal performance and expenditure for the year. Lawmakers were given the opportunity to seek clarifications on the report’s general principles during the first reading, though no formal debate was held.

Speaker Madobe directed the parliamentary finance committees of both chambers to prepare the document for a second reading, during which members will hold a full debate and issue recommendations.

The review marks a key step in Parliament’s constitutional duty to monitor public finances and ensure government accountability in managing national resources.
