Lower House speaker hails Somali army as it marks 63rd anniversary

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Lower House speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor has sent well wishes to the Somali Armed Forces as it marks its 63rd anniversary since it was established on 12th April 1960.

The governor highlighted the various achievements of the army in its fight against the Al-Shabaab terror group saying this has greatly reduced attacks on the Somali people and urged them to continue their efforts to defend the country against terrorist threats.

The speaker also paid tribute to the officers who lost their lives in the war and said the government continues to offer support to injured soldiers and families of those affected.

He further said that the Armed Forces is a symbol of an existence of a government as they defend the territorial integrity of the country.

“They represent the protection of unity and dignity of the people of Somalia because they sacrifice their lives to liberate the country from internal and external threats such as the Al-Shabaab,” he said.
