Parliament Speaker, U.S. Envoy Meet to Boost Political and Security Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Parliament speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe) met U.S. Ambassador Richard H. Riley in Mogadishu on Sunday, in talks aimed at deepening cooperation on political reforms and security.

Riley praised the speaker’s leadership in steering key legislation and strengthening constitutional institutions, while Madobe thanked Washington for its backing in Somalia’s political, economic and security sectors.

Officials said the meeting signaled a renewed push to expand U.S.-Somali ties as the Horn of Africa nation works to consolidate state institutions and improve stability after decades of conflict.
