Permanent Representatives to Arab League meet in Mauritania ahead of 27th Arab Summit
Permanent Representatives to the Arab League met today to prepare for a meeting of the Arab foreign ministers ahead of the 27th Arab Summit, slated for 25th July in Mauritania.
The UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Juma Mubarak Al Jenaibi, participated in today’s meeting.
Mauritanian state news agency quoted Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed bin Helli, as saying that the representatives will discuss the secretary-general’s report on joint Arab action, the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict and developments in the crises in Syria, Yemen and Libya.
The report discusses ways of supporting Somalia, Sudan’s plan for the withdrawal of the United Natins-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Iran’s occupation of the UAE’s three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb, Iran’s interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and a unified Arab position on Turkish forces’ violation of Iraq’s sovereignty.
Other issues addressed by the report include defending pan-Arab national security, combating terrorism, reforming the pan-Arab regional organisation as well as joint Arab economic and social action.
