PHOTOS: Danab Forces Gather to Pray for Fallen Colleagues

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUDUG: The US-trained Danab commandos gathered in Galkaayo, Mudug region Saturday to commemorate and pray for their fallen colleagues among them their commander Hassan Ture who was killed in January 2020.

The soldiers conducted prayers for their colleagues whose images appeared in a poster. The deputy commander of the 163rd Union of the 16th Brigade of Danab Dayib Mohamed Hassan led the session which included prayers and readings from the Quran.

General Ture was killed in Gala’ad district in Galgadud region during intense fighting with the militant group Al-Shabaab. Another commander Abdi Sulnug was later killed by Al-Shabaab.

Danab forces have been instrumental in close combat attacks against Al-Shabaab and have led several rescue mission during hostage taking attacks by Al-Shabaab.
