PM Barre Arrives in Balanballe for Reconciliation Conference
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BALANBALLE: Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has arrived in Balanballe to attend a conference aimed at completing a reconciliation agreement between communities in Balanballe and Guriceel in Galmudug state.
Prime Minister Barre was received at Balanballe airport by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoor Qoor, National Intelligence and Security Agency Director Mahad Mohamed Salad, Galmudug leadership candidate Liban Ahmed Hassan and other officials and community representatives.
The prime minister is scheduled to attend the concluding conference on the reconciliation process between the communities of Balanballe and Guriceel.
The visit will also include the groundbreaking of a Peace House in Balanballe, a project linked to efforts to strengthen reconciliation and peacebuilding in the area.
The reception for the prime minister reflected growing support for the reconciliation process and the improved security environment in the area. PM Barre is accompanied by members of his Cabinet and other federal government officials during the visit.
The reconciliation process comes as Somalia’s federal and regional authorities continue to rely on community-led agreements to address local disputes and strengthen stability in areas affected by political, clan and security tensions.
No details were immediately provided on the specific provisions of the reconciliation agreement expected to be concluded at the conference.
