GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Prime Minister Hamze Barre flew to Kismayo Sunday where he will be following the unfolding humanitarian situation and overseeing emergency relief efforts following heavy flooding that has killed scores and displaced thousands.

The PM is accompanied by the head of Disaster Management Agency, Mohamud Moalim and several MPs from the state.

The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) announced Saturday that 96 people have since been killed by floods since the start of this month. The agency chief Mohamud Moalim said 28 people died after a boat they were in capsized as they fled from the militant group Al-Shabaab.
