PM Barre Heads to Morocco for Global MEDays Forum
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre departed for Morocco on Tuesday to attend the annual MEDays Forum, a major global conference bringing together political and economic leaders from more than 120 countries.
PM Barre is expected to deliver a keynote address outlining Somalia’s political and security situation, recent state-building efforts, and the government’s push to stabilise the country while deepening cooperation with international partners.
The 17th edition of the MEDays Forum, held under the patronage of Morocco’s king, will focus on global political fractures, shifting security dynamics and new frameworks for economic development and multilateral cooperation.
Organisers say this year’s theme – “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation” – reflects rising geopolitical tensions and the search for new mechanisms of global governance.
For Somalia, the MEDays Forum offers an opportunity to seek investment, strengthen political ties and amplify its message that the country is moving beyond decades of conflict toward institutional rebuilding and international reintegration.
