GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has inaugurated the Bula-Hubey Road in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district, underscoring the government’s drive to improve urban infrastructure and support economic recovery in the capital.

The newly completed road, stretching about two kilometers, is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve mobility and boost commercial activity in one of Mogadishu’s densely populated districts.

Speaking at the ceremony, Barre said protecting recent development gains in the capital was critical to preventing a return to years of insecurity and neglect.

“We must safeguard the progress achieved and continue building a better future for the people of Mogadishu,” he said.

Banadir Regional Governor and Mogadishu Mayor Mohamed Hassan Mungab said the project was completed in three months despite logistical and security challenges. He said the construction firm would be held accountable for the road’s quality, with a five-year guarantee requiring repairs at the company’s expense if defects emerge.

The project forms part of a broader government effort to rebuild key infrastructure, improve service delivery and promote stability in Mogadishu, as authorities seek to reinforce public confidence and stimulate long-term social and economic development.
