GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Tuesday inaugurated the country’s largest Emergency and Trauma Center at Madiina Hospital in Mogadishu.

The state-of-the-art facility, with capacity to treat up to 200 patients is dedicated to providing critical care for patients suffering from various ailments, marking a major milestone in Somalia’s healthcare response system.

The facility arrives exactly two years after the tragic Soobe II car bombings on October 29, 2022, which claimed over 100 lives and injured 300 others.

The project was funded through a national initiative led by the National Emergency Committee, which includes federal ministries, the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), and local civil society organizations.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by various top government officials and families of Soobe II victims, alongside many others who were instrumental in the center’s creation and Somalia’s ongoing disaster response efforts.
