PM Barre Launches Development Projects in Second Day of Visit in Las’anod

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LAS’ANOD: Prime Minister Hamze Barre continued his second day of the visit to Las’anod town in Sool region on Sunday.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the PM laid foundation stones for several development projects in the area. The PM arrived in Las’anod town Saturday to a welcome by residents and several leaders where he addressed crowds and met local leaders.

On Saturday night, the PM held talks with clan elders from the region in a bid to strengthen relations in a region which has become a battle ground between Somaliland and Puntland.

Several people were killed in 2023 and previous years in Las’anod in deadly fighting between the Somaliland army and SSC-Khatumo forces allied to Puntland.

The Federal Government formally recognised SSC-Khatumo as an interim federal member state last year and appointed an interim leader.
