PM Barre Launches Major Road Project to Spur Growth in Mogadishu
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of a major road in Mogadishu’s Wadajir District, a project expected to enhance mobility, create jobs, and support urban development in the capital.
The nearly two-kilometer Buulo-Xuubey road is among the city’s key transport routes, connecting vital public and commercial facilities. Barre said the reconstruction will not only improve transportation but also strengthen security, access to services, and the overall appearance of the capital.
“The Buulo-Xuubey road has a long history and remains one of Mogadishu’s most important arteries,” Barre said. “Its rehabilitation will ease movement, stimulate commerce, and benefit residents across the district.”
The Prime Minister praised the Benadir Regional Administration for ongoing infrastructure improvements and urged local authorities to speed up efforts on sanitation, beautification, and urban renewal.
Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to expanding road reconstruction projects to sustain the city’s rapid growth and modernization.
