GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Sunday launched construction of a new headquarters for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Learning, in what officials called a milestone for efforts to modernize the country’s education system.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hamza said the project underlined the government’s commitment to strengthening public services and investing in youth, describing education as Somalia’s most critical institution for national progress.

The government has in recent years expanded access to schools and created the Higher Education Council to regulate universities. Officials said the new facility will provide a modern base for managing reforms, from protecting student data to improving learning environments nationwide.

Hamza praised ministry officials for their role in modernizing educational management systems, saying the headquarters would serve as a hub for building the skills and knowledge Somalia needs for long-term stability and growth.
