PM Barre Leads Government Delegation Inspecting Third Phase of Mogadishu-Jowhar Road
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Republic of Somalia Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Thursday led a government delegation which included diplomats to Balcad district to assess the third phase of the road connecting Mogadishu and Jowhar.
Speaking after the inspection, the prime minister stated that the road will boost transportation of people and goods which will lead to business growth and economic development in the region.
The prime minister thanked the Qatari government for funding the project, and the engineers and workers who are build the road for their unwavering efforts in ensuring timely completion of the project.
He said that Somalia’s development progress has reached a crucial stage, having achieved several milestones in the fight against terrorism and putting in place key reforms which have seen increased investment in the country.
“In order to get investment, it is necessary for the country to have the important infrastructure including roads and electricity,” a news release from the Prime Minister’s Office reads.
The project was implemented in three phases; construction of the road connecting Mogadishu-Afgoye, Mogadishu-Balcad and Balcad-Jowhar.
The first two phases of the projects have already been completed.
