PM Barre Meets Qatari Counterpart, Discusses Developments in Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DOHA: Federal Government of Somalia Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Monday held a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in Doha.

The meeting which comes at the sidelines of the Somali Diaspora Conference discussed cooperation between the two countries along with the latest developments in Somalia, including the ongoing war on Al-shabaab.

During the meeting, the Qatari Prime Minister reiterated his country’s unwavering support for Somalia in its ongoing efforts to achieve security and stability and ensure the country’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Prime Minister Barre is leading a high-level government delegation who are participating in the Somali Diaspora Conference, which began on Monday in Doha, Qatar.

In his speech during the opening ceremony of the event, the PM highlighted the significant role of the Somali diaspora in the political, economic, educational, and security sectors and in state-building efforts.

He emphasized the importance of recognizing the diaspora’s contributions to Somalia’s development and thanked Qatar for its support and for hosting the conference.
